River Partners’ initiative to transform hundreds of acres of Sacramento Valley rice fields back into a thriving natural floodplain is a model for river-adjacent land everywhere. And our 1,600-acre Dos Rios Norte property could help demonstrate the power and efficiency of a restored floodplain this fall and winter. In direct partnership with Lundberg Family Farms, the California Wildlife Conservation Board, and the Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians, River Partners’ work is an example of how nature-based solutions provide multiple benefits, ranging from water safety and quality to habitat for wildlife to providing ideal conditions for salmon: Let it flood like it used to.
