River Partners is getting an assist from high-tech to get more data about the myriad life forms living in our San Joaquin Valley restoration sites. Using funding from the California Wildlife Conservation Board for restoration and research in the San Joaquin Valley, we are collecting hundreds of soil samples this winter to be tested for environmental DNA (eDNA), which is shed naturally by all life forms.
You’re able to get little collections of DNA from organisms that have either passed by or that are living in that soil.
