Blue Dot: Restoring hope for imperiled Sacramento River salmon

Salmon reflect the overall health of our rivers—and right now, populations of all runs are significantly down. River Partners is re-engineering historic side channels and floodplain rearing habitats at eight sites along a 130-mile stretch of the Sacramento River—from Redding in the north to south of Colusa.

“After these projects have been completed, … you’re seeing fish the next day. You open up a new side channel and there are juvenile salmon in there the next day. It’s amazing just cued they are into [the side channels]. … that’s where they want to be. So when you open it up, they go there.”
